Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4X surfaced online just a couple of weeks ago and now, the Chinese smartphone maker's Redmi Note 5 has been certified by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (US FCC).

The certification spills the beans about the device's specs and features, with one leak alluding to the price tag it is likely to carry. If this comes to fruition, the launch event could take place sometime before the end of January.

If Xiaomi sticks to its release pattern, the Snapdragon variant could be headed to India, with the MediaTek variant hitting store shelves in other Asian countries including China. The Redmi Note 5 will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB onboard storage.

Furthermore, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 is expected to sport a 16MP primary camera and an 8MP front shooter for the selfie addicts. It will pack a robust 4,000mAh battery equipped with Quick Charge 3.0 support. In terms of connectivity, the Redmi Note 5 will offer Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS, and USB Type-C port to facilitate charging and data transfer, BGR reported.
