LG G3 Mini (G3 Beat) gets certification in China – Launch imminent?

Alexandra Burlacu

The much-rumored LG G3 Mini, expected to launch in China first as the LG G3 Beat, has just showed up at the Chinese equivalent of the FCC.

The purported handset has made an appearance at the Chinese telecommunications agency, TENAA, suggesting that it's ready for an imminent release.

The listing on TENAA (via Nowhereelse) provides a few photos of the LG G3 and it also confirms some previously leaked specs for the handset. While we still don't have any official confirmation that this device is on its way, this listing does add more fuel to the fire and boosts anticipation for the LG G3 Mini.

Based on information leaked so far, the LG G3 Mini will come with a not-so-mini 5-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM.

Other purported specifications of the upcoming LG G3 Mini include 8GB or 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera with the much-touted Laser Auto Focus introduced with the flagship LG G3, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options should include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE, while Android 4.4 KitKat should run the show on the software side.

As the name itself suggests, this purported LG G3 Mini will launch as the smaller version of the flagship LG G3. The original G3 is a real powerhouse packed with high-end specs and features all around, and the G3 Mini could borrow some of its premium aspects. Moreover, LG is rumored to be working on an LG G3 Prime variant as well, which would allegedly come with even more top-notch specifications compared to the flagship.

The LG G3 Mini is expected to launch in China first as the LG G3 Beat, then make its way to other regions across the world. It remains unclear whether it will be called the LG G3 Mini or the LG G3 Beat outside of China.

It's worth pointing out that none of this information is official at this point, which means that it's best to take everything with a grain of salt for now. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more details become available, so stay tuned.
