Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3 getting Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners on Sprint are in for some good news, as an update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat should arrive anytime now.

The new-generation Galaxy Note 4 already launched with the very latest version of Android on board out of the box, but what about its predecessor? Despite no longer being the current flagship phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is still a powerful device that enjoys great demand and popularity, and a software update will only make it even more attractive.

While many are already eagerly waiting for the next major version of Android, so far dubbed Android L, there are plenty of devices out there that didn't even get the 4.4.4 KitKat build. The Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of them, but this is about to change very soon. Sprint's version of the phablet is ready to receive a software treat and the rollout should commence anytime now, if it hasn't already.

It's worth pointing out that this is not a rumor or some questionable leak, the information comes straight from the source. More specifically, Samsung's official support page now lists the Galaxy Note 3 for Sprint with an incoming Android 4.4.4 update, so the software bump is surely en route. In fact, the date is listed as Sept. 5, which means that it should've started rolling out already. Nevertheless, the over-the-air (OTA) rollout should kick off very soon.

As always with OTA updates, keep in mind that the rollout usually occurs in stages, which means that it may take a little while for the update to reach all devices. If you don't want to stand by and wait for the OTA update prompt, you can always manually check for the update's availability by accessing your Galaxy Note 3's Settings > General > About Phone > Software Updates. If the update is ready for your device, you will be able to install it from there.

As a reminder, Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes with popular features such as Samsung Knox 2.0, international Wi-Fi calling, HD voice Icon support, the Kids Mode feature introduced with the Galaxy Note 5, as well as the usual batch of security patches, bug fixes, and general performance enhancements.
