Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact U.S. launch expected soon on T-Mobile
Alexandra BurlacuThe Sony Xperia Z3's U.S. debut on T-Mobile's network should be just around the corner, and the Xperia Z3 Compact may join the party as well.
Sony's latest powerhouses made their debut a month ago at the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin, and T-Mobile confirmed what many were already expecting: it will offer the new Sony Xperia Z3 flagship smartphone later this fall.
"T-Mobile is lining up a killer hardware portfolio for fall with a selection that gives our customers every opportunity to find the perfect device. That's why today, T-Mobile announced that Sony's Xperia Z3 will be joining the Un-carrier's selection of high-end smartphones, available online and in participating T-Mobile retail stores, this fall," the company announced at the time.
As a reminder, T-Mobile has been the only major U.S. carrier to promote Sony's Xperia lineup of devices in recent times, but other carriers are expected to embrace Sony's offerings soon enough. At the same time, the relationship between Sony and T-Mobile is expected to get tighter, and the Magenta carrier will most likely add the Xperia Z3 Compact to its lineup as well.
The Sony Xperia Z3 doesn't boast dramatic improvements over its predecessor, the Xperia Z2, but it does come with high-end specs and features all around to make it worthy of the flagship title. Moreover, while the Xperia Z2 took months to reach the U.S. market, the new iteration will be more readily available.
The Xperia Z3 Compact, meanwhile, comes as the successor to the highly-acclaimed Xperia Z1 Compact, which raised the bar for what "Mini" handsets have to offer. The new Z3 Compact is a real powerhouse on its own with impressive specifications on board, and it may also hit T-Mobile's network soon.
Exactly one month ago, when asked whether it will carry the Xperia Z3 Compact as well, T-Mobile said on Twitter that interested customers should keep an eye on its newsroom.
We're now getting closer to the expected launch of the new Sony Xperia Z3 lineup on T-Mobile's network, and anticipation is building up. Sony Mobile has scheduled a press event for Thursday, Oct. 9, in New York, promoting the event under the #DemandGreat hashtag. As many of you already know, Sony uses this tagline for its new Xperia Z3 family of devices, which means that the press event will bring some news regarding the handsets' U.S. availability.
We'll keep an eye on Sony's upcoming press event next week, as well as T-Mobile's newsroom, and keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available. With T-Mobile already on board, it will be interesting to see wether other carriers will join the party as well. Any thoughts?
