The upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone for Verizon Wireless has surfaced in a new set of images, showing the device in its retail packaging.

The Droid Turbo has leaked quite extensively in the past few weeks, and even its entire user manual has surfaced online a while ago, giving us precious hints regarding the handset's functionality.

Verizon has also set up a countdown on its DroidDoes website, which deals with all things Droid, suggesting that the new Droid Ultra will make its official debut next week, on Oct. 28.

So far, Motorola and Verizon have had a very successful collaboration for the Droid family of devices, which are available exclusively on Big Red's network. The Droid Turbo is expected to carry on with that legacy and become yet another successful Droid device, offering high-end specs and features all around.

In fact, based on leaks so far, the Droid Ultra seems to be higher-end than the current Motorola flagship smartphone, i.e. the new Moto X, which is a bit odd. Nevertheless, the Verizon Droid Ultra will reportedly boast a 5.2-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, on par with the latest top-notch flagships from other OEMs. Under the hood, the device will allegedly pack a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, a hefty 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage capacity. Other rumored specs include a 21-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities and a massive 3,900 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset is expected to come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box, and receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop once it's ready to roll out to non-Nexus, non-Google Play Edition devices.

The upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo for Verizon has now popped up in its retail packaging on Twitter, courtesy of Moto Firmware. Based on these images, everything falls in line with the familiar Droid-style packaging, and the smartphone also appears to come with a Turbo Charger in the box, just as previously rumored.

According to the folks over at Droid-Life, the Motorola Droid Turbo will come with a $199 price tag when agreeing to sign a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless, or $599 at full retail price, contract-free.
