HTC Nexus 9 now available for purchase on Google Play
Alexandra BurlacuThe Google Nexus 9 tablet made by HTC is now officially available for purchase from the Google Play Store, ready to ship in 1 - 2 business days.
The Nexus 9 marks HTC's return to the tablet market, and also revives the collaboration between Google and the Taiwanese OEM. The tablet was one of the most highly anticipated devices of this year and it leaked extensively ahead of its announcement.
The Nexus 9 made its official debut on Oct. 15, arriving as one of the launch vehicles for the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, alongside the Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone and the ASUS-made Nexus Player.
Google officially opened up pre-orders for the HTC Nexus 9 shortly after the official announcement, and the tablet has now gone on sale on Monday, Nov. 3. The Nexus 9 is available for purchase from Google Play, and the listing states that it will leave the warehouse in 1 - 2 business days.
As a reminder, the new Google Nexus 9 tablet from HTC comes to replace both the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 in one swoop. The tablet sports an 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and packs a top-notch 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor under the hood, clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with 192-core Kepler graphics and 2GB of RAM.
Other specs of the HTC Nexus 9 include 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash, a 1.6-megapixel front shooter, optional LTE, NFC, and the very latest Android 5.0 Lollipop on board out of the box. The tablet also sports front-facing BoomSound speakers for a superior audio experience, courtesy of HTC.
It's worth pointing out that the Nexus 9 arrives as the first Android tablet to ship with Lollipop on board and boast optimization for 64-bit processing on both the software and the hardware fronts.
The Google Nexus 9 tablet will be available in three color options - Indigo Black, Lunar White, and Sand - but only the black and white models are up for grabs for now. At the same time, only the Wi-Fi-only models have gone on sale at this point, with the 16GB Nexus 9 available for $399 and the 32GB model selling for $479. The Sand and LTE models are still listed as "coming soon" for now.
