E FUN $99 Nextbook 8 Windows 8.1 tablet launching on Black Friday
Alexandra BurlacuThe $99 E FUN Nextbook 8 Windows tablet is officially set to hit retail on Black Friday, launching through Walmart retail stores.
The Nextbook 8 aims to deliver a Windows 8.1 tablet in the sub-$100 range so that budget-conscious shoppers have an affordable option in the Windows tablet space. The slate will hit Walmart retail stores as part of a Black Friday promotion, going on sale for just $99. Under the promotion, buyers will also get a free 16GB microSD card to double the Nextbook 8's 16GB of internal storage capacity.
The $99 Nextbook 8 tablet will also come with a few other perks, such as a one-year subscription to Office 365 and 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage space. News of the Nextbook 8 availability on Black Friday comes from an announcement on Thursday, Nov. 13, on the Windows Blog.
For $99, the Nextbook 8 is not exactly a powerhouse in terms of hardware specifications, but it does come with decent specs that should deliver a good performance, and it offers the Windows 8.1 experience.
The slate comes with an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and packs an Intel Atom quad-core Z3735 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM for a fluid and smooth performance. Other specs include the aforementioned 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 64GB, a 2-megapixel rear camera, and a 0.3-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0, a micro USB port, a mini HDMI port, and a standard headphone jack. The slate also comes with a 3-axis g-sensor that's "perfect for gaming," according to the announcement on the Windows Blog.
"Sleek and powerful, the Nextbook Tablet is the compact electronic powerhouse you've been waiting for," touts the product description on the Nextbook USA website.
All in all, the Nextbook 8 may not be the most powerful tablet out there, but it should nonetheless provide a decent performance for its price tag.
As previously mentioned, those who purchase a Nextbook 8 tablet will also receive a 16GB microSD card to supplement the slate's internal storage capacity, but this seems to be a limited-time offer. The bundle will reportedly be available through Dec. 31.
