Microsoft Windows 10 consumer experience to unfold at Jan. 21 event
Alexandra BurlacuMicrosoft just made it official that it will be holding a Windows 10 event on Jan. 21, 2015, to detail the consumer experience of its latest operating system.
Windows 10 has already stirred lots of interest since its debut, but little details are officially available at this point regarding the consumer experience it will bring to the table. Windows 8 has received lots of criticism and saw poor adoption rates, but Microsoft wants to turn things around and make everything better with its new Windows 10.
When officially announcing the latest OS version, jumping straight from Windows 8 to Windows 10 with no 9 version in between, Microsoft focused more on the enterprise and productivity aspects of the new OS. The company promised to offer more details regarding the consumer experience at a later date, and it has now confirmed that it will be hosting a special Windows 10 event on Jan. 21.
"On Wednesday, January 21st - we will be holding an event here on Microsoft's Redmond campus where we will talk about the next chapter of Windows 10. You'll hear directly from senior leaders from the Operating Systems Group including Terry Myerson, Joe Belfiore and Phil Spencer who will talk about the Windows 10 consumer experience - continuing the story we began in September," Microsoft announced in a company blog post on Thursday, Dec. 11.
The announcement further adds that company CEO Satya Nadella will be taking the stage at the event as well, and the whole thing will be webcast live for everyone to see. Microsoft will offer more details in this regards as it gets closer to the event.
Windows 10 is expected to come as a major upgrade over the previous iteration, offering neat features and functionality on all fronts. The new OS reportedly aims to deliver a tailored experience based on device, and up the ante in terms of what Windows has to offer overall. The next version of Windows will also come with Cortana, the company's digital assistant that's currently available only on Windows Phone.
No additional information is available at this point, but we'll learn more straight from the source in little over a month from now. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more details become available, so stay tuned.
