Samsung Galaxy E5, Galaxy E7 smartphones officially debut, promise ‘best selfie experience’
Alexandra BurlacuRumors of a new Samsung Galaxy E series can finally be put to rest, as the company has officially unveiled its new Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones.
In addition to launching the metal-clad Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 handsets in India, Samsung has also taken the wraps off two brand new mid-range smartphones: the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7, part of the rumored Galaxy E series.
"Samsung Electronics launched GALAXY E7 and GALAXY E5 in India. These powerful and compact smartphones, targeting young customers, also offer a superior viewing and best selfie experience," the company announced in an official blog post on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
"As we embark in this New Year, Samsung heralds a new and exciting era with the introduction of compact, stylish and best-in-class technology smartphones in India. Continuing our legacy of setting new standards for customer-centric innovation, we are focused on redefining the concept of offering revolutionary devices and expand our leadership position within the smartphone market."
Both handsets in the new Galaxy E series offer what Samsung calls "Hybrid dual-SIM," allowing the second SIM card slot to serve as a microSD card slot as well, and both aim to offer good performance on a budget.

The higher-end Galaxy E7, meanwhile, comes with a larger 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (also unspecified), 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage capacity, expandable via microSD. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options are the same as for the Galaxy E5.
Selfie Power
