HTC Desire 826 debuts at CES 2015, boasts UltraPixel selfie cam
Alexandra BurlacuHTC added a new member to its popular mid-range smartphone lineup at CES 2015, officially introducing the latest HTC Desire 826.
The company doesn't typically make big announcements at CES, but this year it has nonetheless chosen to unveil a new smartphone at the show. After teasing a new Desire surprise last week, HTC has now officially taken the wraps off the new Desire 826.
Although the HTC Desire 820 made its debut only a few months ago, the new Desire 826 now appears to come as its successor. At the same time, the Desire 826 borrows several design features from the popular Desire EYE.
For instance, the new HTC Desire 826 features the same BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers hidden at the top and bottom bezels, just like on the Desire EYE, but this time HTC has also added Dolby Audio for a superior experience. Moreover, the Desire 826 also sports the same anti-slip soft sides and overall look of the Desire EYE.
The latest member of the Desire family, however, now brings the much-touted HTC UltraPixel technology to the front camera, which means that Desire 826 users will be able to take brighter selfies even in low-lit environments.
In terms of specifications, the HTC Desire 826 features a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset will power things up, with four cores clocked at 1.7GHz and the other four at 1GHz.
The HTC Desire 826 further comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, and a 13-megapiel rear camera with LED flash. A 2,600 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android Lollipop will rock the software side.
For some select markets, the HTC Desire 826 will also offer dual-SIM support, and both SIM slots will support LTE.
The smartphone is expected to make its commercial debut in select markets around the world toward the end of this month, but HTC has yet to offer specific pricing and availability details. Nevertheless, the company has set up a pre-registration page for the new HTC Desire 826, allowing interested customers to sign up and receive more information about the handset as it gets closer to launch.
