Sprint HTC One M8, LG G3 to get Lollipop starting next week

The HTC One M8 and the LG G3 on Sprint are apparently in for a sweet treat soon, as Android 5.0 Lollipop may start rolling out next week.

Google unveiled its Android 5.0 Lollipop back in October as the last major version of its mobile operating system, and numerous smartphone owners worldwide have been eagerly waiting for the update ever since. Lollipop has already rolled out to a number of devices in recent months but it has only reached 1.6 percent of all Android devices so far, and more are expected to follow shortly.

A new update typically takes longer to reach carrier versions of devices, and Android 5.0 Lollipop makes no exception. Nevertheless, the latest Android version has started to reach carrier versions of smartphones in the U.S. and a wider release should follow.

Verizon Wireless pleasantly surprised its customers earlier this week when it started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Samsung Galaxy S5, and Sprint followed suit shortly. Sprint not only updated its Galaxy S5 to Lollipop, but its HTC One M7 got the treat as well.

If a newly-leaked release schedule obtained by Android Central turns out to be accurate, Sprint has another surprise in store for its customers. The HTC One M8 and One M8 Harman Kardon Edition are apparently scheduled to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop next week, on Feb. 13, while the LG G3 should get the update on Feb. 16.

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a number of neat changes and improvements to the table, aiming to enhance the overall experience on all fronts. An increasing number of devices should start receiving the update in the first months of this year, and more carriers are expected to announce plans to update the devices in their lineups.

At the same time, keep in mind that Sprint has yet to confirm these release dates for the HTC One M8 and LG G3 Android Lollipop update, so make sure to take this leak with a grain of salt for now. If his leaked schedule turns out to be accurate, it will not take long for the update to start rolling out and we'll keep you up to date as soon as it does.
