Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners on Verizon Wireless are in for some good news, as Big Red is officially pushing Android 5.0 Lollipop to the phablet.

Android 5.0 Lollipop made its debut a good while ago and a number of devices have already received the update. Various Samsung Galaxy Note 4 versions worldwide received the Lollipop treat as well, but not all carrier versions in the U.S. got the same treatment.

Galaxy Note 4 owners on Verizon Wireless have been eagerly waiting for the update to roll out, and Big Red has now finally started upgrading its version of the phablet to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce an operating system update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This version brings Android beyond smartphones and tablets, allowing access to apps and Android services on other connected screens like TV's, cars and wearables. The new material design offers complex animations and 3-D views, 64-bit ABI support and improved runtime," reads Verizon's announcement (PDF).

The latest update brings the software version to LRX22C.N910VVRU1BOAF and includes a number of neat new features and improvements to the table to enhance the overall performance.

Material Design elements will bring fluid animations and visuals, but the changes may not be very obvious because Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top of Android is quite heavy. Other goodies Lollipop has to offer include improved lock screen notifications, neat battery life optimizations, improved security, ART runtime, floating action button, and plenty more. After the update, users will also be able to set priority and privacy for the notifications on the lock screen.

Verizon Wireless has already started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but it will take a few days for all devices to get the treat. The update is rolling out over the air (OTA) and the process is gradual, rolling out in stages, which means that not all units get it at the same time.

If you have yet to receive the notification for the OTA, you can also check manually for the update by accessing your device's Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates. For instructions on how to manually install the update, check out Verizon's support document at this link (PDF).

If you already received the update, drop by our comment section and let us know how it fares.
