Cricket Wireless announces new financing plans to help consumers pay for devices

Cricket Wireless has an attractive new offer in store, as the carrier just announced three financing plans to help customers handle the cost of a new device.

If you've got your eyes set on a smartphone and would like to enjoy Cricket Wireless' prepaid services, but can't afford to pay for the device outright, one of these three financing plans may be a perfect fit. Cricket Wireless will now make it more affordable for customers to get devices worth at least $200, including the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone.

"Cricket Wireless today announces the launch of its new Phone Payment Plans*, designed to help customers get the latest, premium devices like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S®6, even faster - without breaking their budget.  Cricket is the first national prepaid wireless carrier that offers three distinct credit financing options including a rent-to-own leasing option for qualified customers - all with no annual contract," the prepaid carrier touted in a press release on Wednesday, April 8.

"Cricket's Phone Payment Plans give consumers some of the most flexible pay options in the industry.  Walk into any participating Cricket location and, if qualified and approved, walk out with the phone you want for as little as $19.99 down, plus taxes and fees, and a payment plan you can afford."

As previously mentioned, there are three plans to choose from. The first two will help finance your new device purchase with an initial payment of $20 upfront, after a standard credit check. The first tier will allow customers to spread the cost of a device over 24 months, with zero interest. The second one, meanwhile, offers a "six-month deferred interest offer and 29.99% APR for an 18 month term," which means that you won't have to pay interest as long as you pay for the device within six months.

Lastly, the final tier doesn't involve a credit check, as it comes as a rent-to-own option. Customers will have to pay $50 upfront, followed by installments spread over 90 days.

It's also worth pointing out that Cricket Wireless will offer one free month of service to customers who switch over from other carriers except AT&T. In order to take advantage of this, however, you'd still have to pay for two months of service worth $50 or $60, after which you'll be able to get the free month of service.

"At Cricket, we know consumers want to get the latest devices - either for themselves or as gifts - but aren't always sure if they can fit it in their budget," said Janna Ducich, vice president and chief marketing officer at Cricket Wireless.  "The Cricket Phone Payment Plans were created to simplify financing and make it quicker and more affordable to get the premium devices you want and need, when you want and need them."
