Gionee Unveils New S6 Smartphone in China
Mary Cris BalancioAnd the teasing is over! After the public has seen unfortunate leaks (or a carefully planned marketing strategy) and several releasers of teasers, the Chinese tech company seems to be serious now as they make an official stand regarding their anticipated latest phone model.
The Chinese smartphone maker Gionee officially unveiled their new smartphone in China, the Gionee S6 model. The smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch HD Amoled display screen with a ratio of 77.8% display to glass ratio, a 720 x 1080 pixel resolution and a 267 ppi pixel density. Gionee S6 has a dimension of 151.9 x 74.6 x 6.9 mm or 5.98 x 2.94 x 0.27 in. It also has a thickness of 6.9 mm making it one super slim phone and only weighs 147 g or 5.19 oz.
Gionee S6 is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 chipset, a 1.3 GHz octa-core processor and a Mali-T720 graphics processor. It will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and will also come with Gionee's AMIGO OS3.1. It comes with 3GB RAM and an internal storage of 32GB which can be expandable through a microSD card. The smartphone also has a hybrid second SIM slot which the user can use for a single SIM and memory expansion or can also be used as a dual SIM.
Gionee S6 also features a 13MP main/rear shooter which has face detection, geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama and has a LED flash and a 5 MP front "selfie" camera. The primary camera also supports 1080 pixel video recording resolution. It comes with a Li-Ion 3150 mAh battery and can support all standard connectivity options such as USB Type-C port and 4G LTE.
It is also revealed that Gionee S6 will be available for purchase in the Chinese market starting by November 22 and will be priced at ¥1699 CNY or about $267 USD. For now it will be available in two colors only which are Gold and Platinum. As of today there are still no further announcements or news whether it will make an appearance into nearby markets or if a global rollout is possible anytime soon.
