Avid fans of George R.R. Martin might have been wondering what is the real status of the highly anticipated novel "The Winds of Winter." But the updates look exciting as the author dropped some hints during the Balticon convention.

The celebrated author gave his fans the opportunity to choose what they want to hear from the book, notes Game N Guide. In a glimpse, Martin was asked if he could share some snippets about Damphair Greyjoy.

"The Greyjoys have it - you sick motherf*ckers," the novelist exclaimed. Fans were also able to hear about Arya Stark's alter ego- Mercy, but it was not fully elaborated.

Cannot get enough of the hints? Those who were able to attend the convention created a note about their encounter with the famous writer thoroughly. Check the rest of the available information about "The Winds of Winter" here.

It was such a disappointment to most of the fans that the book is not ready yet. Months ago, Martin apologized for the delay. However, the official release date has been kept under wraps but many are expecting for it to be out before 2016 ends.

"For months now I have wanted nothing so much as to be able to say, 'I have completed and delivered THE WINDS OF WINTER' on or before the last day of 2015... but the book is not done," as stated from his online journal.

Soon after the statement was released, many websites have speculated that Martin is seeking a help of a co-writer because he had "too much on his plate."  On the other hand, Christian Daily reported that he is suffering from writer's block and allegedly asked novelist Neil Gaiman, who wrote remarkable books such as "American Gods" for finishing the book.

So, when will "The Winds of Winter" be available on the bookshelves? Find out soon.
