Microsoft Launches Powerful Outlook Watch To Compete With Android Wear

Last Friday, Microsoft announced a new Android Wear version for its mobile calendar and Outlook app. However, considering Microsoft's reputation and the competition, it will be offering some other features too.

The Verge reports that Microsoft has designed this version of the Outlook app to be a watch face, meaning which, it can always stay surfaced on the smartwatch screen.

Other features of the smartwatch include looking at the daily events, inbox notifications, as well as interacting with the messages, which has been received on the Android phone.

Notably Microsoft had previously brought Outlook for wearable with an Apple Watch on August 2015. However, since Microsoft cannot take advantage of certain core Apple features; hence Android Wear seems more compatible for Microsoft.

With the help of Android Wear, Microsoft has certain advantages and freedom to develop what they exactly need.

In addition, the Outlook watch face is also a first step towards Microsoft's plans for productivity app, which is unified. The Redmond based tech company had earlier acquired Accompli, a calendar app named Sunrise, and the to - do list app named Wunderlist over the last couple of years.

Although Accompli was featured on the new mobile Outlook app, reports suggest that the other two, recently acquired apps will be slowly merged on the mobile app if the venture is successful.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has previously announced last October that it will eventually shut down Sunrise, and the date was set to August 31, this year.

Thus, it seems that Microsoft indeed has great plans for the Outlook app and the Android Watch will definitely play a big role in it to show the users that it has its use beyond being the desktop app very few people uses.

Users need to stay tuned for more updates from the tech tycoon on the future of Outlook App.
