UPDATE: Confirmed: No 'Penny Dreadful' Season 4

Viewers who have been following "Penny Dreadful" on TV might be a bit stressed out over the next season.  With the show's ratings dropping, it seems that Ethan and Vanessa might not be back for another season.

According to Carter Matt, the show has not exactly been one of the highest ratings for the network, but it has received consistent viewers throughout Seasons 1 and 2.

If Showtime renews "Penny Dreadful" Season 3, the news is expected to be released sometime in June.

Meanwhile, although "Penny Dreadful" has failed to increase the ratings, a poll held by Carter Matt revealed that 99.4 percent voters wanted to see the show renewed for a new season.

Meanwhile, Forbes noted that fans should not be worried about the future of "Penny Dreadful" on TV just yet. Since occasional drops in ratings are pretty much expected for most shows, it is nothing to worry about.

In addition, Forbes has speculated that the drop in the ratings of "Penny Dreadful" could be because of the premiere of "Preacher" on AMC. Both shows follow the horror genre and are being aired at the same time, causing viewers to miss one in order to watch the other.

Meanwhile, in episode 7 of "Penny Dreadful," Vanessa Ives decided to confront Dr. Sweet about his real identity, which ended in Vanessa allowing "Draculla" to bit her neck. Although Vanessa was not shown in the promo trailers, yet she did occupy a good portion of the season.

It depends on Showtime if they will be renewing the show for one more season, but one thing can be said for sure: viewers are not yet tired of Ethan and Vanessa.
