The highly anticipated game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" could be a beacon of hope for Nintendo's Wii U console.

The announcement of "Breath of the Wild" was met with much fanfare, putting the title high on almost everyone's list of most anticipated games. Despite the initial release date being moved to 2017, the anticipation has not waned.

On the other hand, a lot of sites have expressed their views about the dwindling success of the Nintendo Wii U.

President Tatsumi Kimishima himself said that there was a struggle to sell consumers on the appeal of the Wii even before its launch in 2012, and the failure of the console can be attributed, but cannot be solely blamed, on the Wii's previous sales success.

Third-party developers have slowly withdrawn their support for the console, with Ubisoft saying in 2013 that they will only support the Wii U if the sales improve, according to Kotaku.

Looking at the Wii U's less than impressive current games lineup, people are starting to say that the Wii U is nearing its twilight years even before it began.

The launch of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is just what the Wii U needs to get it back on track, along with another highly anticipated title, platformer "Yooka-Laylee."

The game was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from game critics and fans alike when its playable demo was showcased at this year's E3.

The new "Zelda" title garnered a lot of awards from critics, including "Best Wii U Game," "Game of the Show," "Best Adventure Game," and "Best Console Game."

Will "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" breathe new life into Nintendo's dying Wii U console? We will find out when it launches in March, 2017. The game will also be playable on Nintendo's new console, the Nintendo NX.
