LG 360 Review: An Affordable 360-Degree Camera with Expensive Features

C. de Lacy

LG 360 is a dual 13-megapixel camera with 200-degree wide angle lenses. It has the capability of recording high-quality videos up to 2k resolutions. Is it a good buy compared to the more expensive competition?

With the surge of virtual reality, 360-degree cameras are starting to be part of the norms as well as they are easily going mainstream. LG 360 can be a good starting point of getting expensive 360 cameras out of the question without sacrificing quality and functionality.

Here are some of the quick glimpse of LG 360's reviews, according to various gadget review sites.

Cnet

Based on Cnet's review of LG 360, the camera is, by far, the cheapest option among the competition at the moment. With prices starting from $350 and beyond, LG's handsome price of $200 could easily be a good reason for anybody to get it. Even just for the hell of it.

One big downside with the package is the lack of a bundled microSD card, which is required. The battery is also built-in, which means there's no way to continuously use the device by switching batteries.

Digital Trends

With the site's review of the LG 360, emphasis was given to it the possibilities made due to its lightweight form. Aside from the fact that trying to find an angle is not much of an issue, the camera is extremely compact and lightweight.

It won't even need a bag. It securely fits in a pocket and there's no need to connect it to compatible Android and iOS devices. It works perfectly as it should.

However, unlike Cam Plus or Hi-Fi modules, LG Cam 360 requires a bit of setup since it needs wireless connection to the phone that it'll be connected with. At average, it takes about 20 - 30 seconds to connect the camera add-on to any compatible device.

With this said, any connected device with LG 360 Cam won't have Wi-Fi data connection while it is in use.

Expert Reviews

LG 360's video quality is great according to Expert Reviews. While it gets noticeably soft around the edges of the frame, footages are very much usable.

One limitation that the camera has was the 20-minute limitation per file. Not really great for people who wants to use the camera for extended periods without having the access to it for more than 20 minutes. It needs to be re-initiated after reaching the limit.

Here's a footage of the camera in-action:
