Will 'Battleborn' Updates Save The Game vs 'Overwatch'? Gearbox Launches Second DLC Character In August

Developer Gearbox lives up to its promise to deliver frequent updates to its online first-person shooter video game "Battleborn."

A new character will be added to the "Battleborn" game roster. Snake-like assassin Pendles will be officially joining the character list on Aug. 4 on all platforms and can be unlocked for 47,500 in-game credits, according to a recent blog post on the "Battleborn" website.

Season Pass holders can play as Pendles a few days early, as they will get early access and a hero key to unlock the new hero on July 28.

The description for Pendles is as follows, according to 2K:

"A cold-blooded killer, Pendles hails from the same water-world as Alani, Akopos. As most adolescent Roa do, Pendles left home to explore and learn about other cultures. Completely unimpressed with these new learnings, Pendles found more enjoyment in murdering those cultures."

"Even better, people would pay him for his new found hobby. Don't let his sweet pair of sneakers fool you. This assassin will sneak up behind you, poison you, eviscerate you with duel kamas, then slink away again in a blink of his one remaining eye."

"Battleborn" has suffered from lack of PC players since its fiercest competitor "Overwatch" came into the picture. The game enjoyed a 12,070 all-time peak on Steam immediately after launch, but is now just barely reaching 2,000 player peaks.

"Battleborn" was also met with mixed reviews from critics and players alike, getting only 69 out of 100 on Metacritic for the PC version of the game, and also getting low scores for both PS4 and Xbox One versions.

The game was also marked down from $60 at launch to a measly $36 on Steam for a certain period, only three weeks after release, VG24/7 reported. The game now goes for about as low as $25 for the PS4 and $32 for PC on retail site Amazon.
