"Resident Evil 7" or "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" came out of nowhere in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Surprisingly, a different footage instead of RE7 was revealed at Comic-Con, and developers explained the game's release date.

Fans were expecting a demo footage of "Resident Evil 7," but instead saw a footage of "Kitchen." At some point, the three-minute demo footage holds some strong significance with "Resident Evil 7" and may even be a prequel.

Capcom revealed "Kitchen" in E3 2015, but no footage of it was recorded, leaving the fans and those who have been waiting for it clueless as to when it will actually go out.

As shown in the video above, "Kitchen" shows a lot of interesting concepts that we've actually seen with this year's "Resident Evil 7" reveal footage.

While the demo is extremely short and just spanning around three minutes, almost all aspects of "Resident Evil 7" for VR was present with the exception of the position-tracked features that represents holding a DS4 controller in a bound pair of hands.

Nobody is sure why Capcom did this, but it may be a short teaser of what to expect and experience with the VR features of "Resident Evil 7."

In other news, Antoine Molant of Capcom EMEA had an interview with MCV. He explained the company's reasons behind releasing "Resident Evil 7" in January 2017.

"Historically, we have released quite a lot of games in January and it has gone well. To be honest, there's a development reason - it's not going to be ready before Christmas, and we don't want a game that's unfinished." Molant told MCV.

"Just look at April and May this year, even spring is getting congested. Q1 is going to be mental next year - you saw that from the announcements at E3," he added.

Some fans may be put off with such a release date timeframe, given that most big-name publishers release their games around fall or spring period.

The game will be featuring a first-person perspective, which might be new to the franchise with the exception of Wii titles like "Resident Evil Umbrello Chronicles."

The game will also be playable with the PlayStation VR from start to finish.
