NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers No Longer Interested In Milwaukee Bucks Greg Monroe?

Dheeraj R

With reports that the Milwaukee Bucks might trade their power forward Greg Monroe to the New Orleans Pelicans; the NBA rumors hinted that the Los Angeles Lakers will not pursue him.

Lakers Nation reported that the Monroe has issues with the Los Angeles team's head coach Luke Walton and his small ball system. Reports claimed that Walton's system is perfect for the Lakers frontcourt players which include Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., Tarik Black, Ivica Zubac and Timofey Mozgov. Thus, the Los Angeles team has reportedly dropped their plans of trading Monroe for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, few reports have claimed that Sacramento Kings' DeMarcus Cousins have expressed his interest to join the Los Angeles Lakers. Reports claimed that Cousins is very disappointed with Kings' performance and attitude and thus wants to get traded before the start of the upcoming NBA season. However, there are no reports whether the Lakers are willing to include Cousins in the team or not.

On the other hand, ESPN's Marc Stein commented that Monroe himself doesn't want to choose any other team other than New Orleans. "The Bucks are still looking to find a taker for Greg Monroe and it sounds like they've spoken to the Pelicans about him this offseason," said Stein on his ESPN podcast. "Monroe's a New Orleans native. I think that's where he wants to end up."

Few NBA trade rumors hinted that the 26-year-old player will be an important addition to the New Orleans team as he has an average of 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, reported Asia Starz. Also, according to the analysts, Monroe is set to make a team-high $17.1 million in the upcoming NBA season whereas Asik is expected to make $9.9 million.

However, it is unclear whether the New Orleans team will give a green signal for the trade or not. The main reason behind this is that the Pelicans already have talented frontcourt players like forward Anthony Davis along with centers Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca and Monroe will reportedly be a misfit.
