Angelina Jolie Death Hoax: Suicidal Stance Caused It?

When the Angelina Jolie's death hoax broke, many might have asked about the reason behind it. Does her husband Brad Pitt have something to do with it?

Based on the story that spread on the Internet, particularly on Facebook, it was alleged that the 41-year-old "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" star committed suicide, which accordingly might have been caused by the cheating rumors thrown at her husband.

The National Enquirer (via Gawker) already reported before that the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" actress was allegedly rushed to the hospital because of her attempt to end her life.

Before the Angelina Jolie death hoax made headlines, there was the "SUICIDE ATTEMPT!" story of the tabloid, "which says Angie had a separation anxiety attack when Brad went to France, and confessed suicidal impulses to him by phone."

Fast forward to this month, Snopes busted the report by pointing out that it was merely an attempt to encourage Facebook users to click on the link of the supposed scenario of the actress' attempt at suicide.

"CNN Video Footage: Angelina Jolie Says Goodbye to Her Fans and to Brad Pitt Before Doing This Suicidal," the Angelina Jolie death hoax story read along with a video which allegedly was her message for Brad Pitt before she committed suicide.

As explained by Snopes, this hoax has always been aiming "to perpetrate the same scam: A salacious Facebook post, typically claiming that someone famous has passed away, is used to lure users into giving a scammy app permission to view and/or post to their Facebook page."

By clicking on the supposed link of the interesting scoop, the Internet user is being redirected to an app that asks for personal information, apart from getting the nod of the user for the app to post on his or her behalf.

With Angelina Jolie's death hoax, Snopes urged everyone to practice utmost discernment in order not to end up allowing malware into their computer system.
