'Pokémon GO' Mew, Mewtwo Found? Hunt For The Legendary Pokémon Continues

The smash hit mobile game "Pokémon GO" may be losing steam at this point, but some persistent Pokémon trainers are still on the hunt for the most precious Pokémon in the game: Mew and Mewtwo.

Despite numerous confirmations that the coveted Legendary Pokémon are still not available, some people are still pulling out all the stops to show the world that they have either seen or caught one.

A few weeks ago, a video claiming to catch the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo was posted on Reddit, but was quickly called out as an elaborate hoax by fellow Pokémon players, including Youtuber TmarTn2.

Below is his detailed analysis on the fake video.

Another sighting earlier this month that had the whole internet buzzing is the famous Articuno sighing in Ohio. The trainer, Kaitlyn Covey uploaded screenshots and even videos of her prized catch and shared the footage on Reddit. Despite the proof, people still called her out as a fraud.

Niantic Labs' statements regarding the issue only made matters worse, as the developer first confirmed that the Articuno is fake, according to Geek.com.

A few days later, Niantic released a statement confirming that Articuno was a "mistake."

"We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have," Fortyseven Communications, Niantic's PR, said.

"To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers' accounts," the statement concluded.

Whether the Articuno is fake or legit, the fans will never know now. Regardless, there are still a lot of ways to fake a Legendary catch in "Pokémon GO," using proxy servers to alter Pokémon data and turn them into other Pokémon as they see fit, Gamerant reported.

People are faking Legendary Pokémon catch, and this can be attributed to the huge power boost these creatures can add to their arsenal.

However, as of this point, fans would still have to wait. Niantic has enough issues in their hands at the moment to even bother releasing new content for the game, including the much awaited Legendary Pokémon.

Unless we hear from the developers themselves, all Legendary sightings should be taken with a grain of salt.
