'Assassin's Creed Empire': Will The Next AC Revive The Franchise? What We Should Expect From The 2017 Title

There may be no mainline "Assassin's Creed" title going out this year, with Ubisoft skipping the 2016 video game title in favor of the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" movie.

However, that does not stop fans from being excited about the next video game from the franchise.

The buzz around the community is that "Assassin's Creed" is slowly losing its spark, which all started with the buggy and disappointing release of "Assassin's Creed Unity."

Despite springing back with "Assassin's Creed Syndicate," the fanbase has slowly dwindled since then, with the game being the lowest seller in its first week compared to earlier "Assassin's Creed" titles, according to Digital Spy.

Ubisoft has announced earlier this year that the publisher will be taking a breather from the yearly release of "Assassin's Creed" titles, and will be "stepping back and re-examining the 'Assassin's Creed' franchise."

With this in mind, fans are expecting the next mainline title, rumored to be called "Assassin's Creed Empire," to be even bigger than its predecessors.

So what should the fans expect from the next "Assassin's Creed" game? According to Kotaku's sources, the next game will be set in ancient Egypt.

The source also claims that the game was also supposed to take place in ancient Rome, but was scrapped at the last minute.

"There are talks about making a trilogy of this same character, so they might explore Greece/Rome next," the source wrote.

The game is said to have a feel similar to CD Projekt Red's hit game "The Witcher," with player progression and freeform combat system. The game will also be made by the same team responsible for "Assassin's Creed Black Flag."

The source also said that the world will be ":made from scratch, no recycling."

As of the moment, Ubisoft has its hands tied with its upcoming games, especially "Watch Dogs 2," which is billed to take the crown of "Assassin's Creed" on the Ubisoft lineup this year. All the above-mentioned details should be taken with a grain of salt.

More "Assassin's Creed Empire" news should be expected after the release of the highly anticipated "Assassin's Creed" movie, which will be out this December.
