'Destiny: Rise of Iron': Bungie Won't Nerf Player Progression Paths, Weapon, Class Rebalance To Happen Immediately After Launch
Jazz RosinIt's only a couple of weeks away from the launch date of Bungie's latest "Destiny" expansion, "Rise of Iron," and information about the upcoming DLC just keeps on coming.
Players who are worried about their progression paths getting nerfed when "Rise of Iron" drops could now rest easy, as Bungie assured that these will not be affected by the latest expansion.
Speaking to Stevivor at Gamescom this year, Bungie's David 'DeeJ' Dague confirmed that the upcoming patch will not nerf the progression paths introduced in both "The Taken King" DLC and the April update.
"We don't look at the April update and say, 'that was a mistake, we should backpedal on that.'," Dague said.
While Bungie will be preserving these changes, the developer is also hard at work in implementing tons of tweaks in the game without compromises.
Talking about the mighty Iron Gjallarhorn, which will be available as a pre-order bonus for "Destiny: Rise of Iron," Dague said, "We're giving you quests that lead to a Gjallarhorn which, to a Year One player, would seem unfathomable."
"Like, 'how do I get a Gjallarhorn?' - to which you'd have replied, 'I don't know, practice baby, practice.'" Dague went on. "Now the answer to that question is you go build your own. I think people are going to have a real good sense of ownership about their Gjallarhorn, and it's an experience that people can share."
As with new weapons and gear, "Rise of Iron" will not be short of them. Dague confirms that the new expansion will bring tons of sweet new gear to "Destiny" at launch.
There was previously a misunderstanding that the balance update will not happen immediately after the "Rise of Iron" DLC, based on the Q & A session with Game Informer. Bungie has since clarified on Reddit recently that weapon and class rebalancing update will indeed be implemented once "Rise of Iron" launches.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC users on Sept. 20.
