Even as the much-anticipated unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is almost upon Android fans, another leaked image of the device has surfaced the tech mainstream. The new alleged leaked image comes from SamMobile and it suggests that Galaxy S3 will pack a 4.8-inch display.
According to SamMobile, it got the treat from an anonymous tipster. "We just got an extremely nice email in our inbox," the site wrote. "We just received a couple of details and some good pictures of the Galaxy SIII. The Galaxy SIII is based on Android 4.0.4 out of the box. Another detail is that the GT-I9300 will be the Galaxy SIII. Our tip person told us the phone will be available the week after the release."
The image does indeed look very similar to the previously reported manual of the device GT-i9300. Various rumors have indicated that Samsung has sent out dummy cases for internal testing. Should such rumors be true, these images may actually feature in the real device.
The picture shows the Galaxy S form factor seen in previous Samsung Galaxy devices, but it also shows a home button at the bottom, a notification LED flash, and a 12-megapixel camera.
Samsung has not confirmed any of the other rumored specifications. The only thing confirmed is that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will pack a quad-core Exynos 4 Quad processor. Several rumors, however, indicate that the phone will feature a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display, 1080p playback, LTE, Android Ice Cream Sandwich (likely with TouchWiz on top of it), Gyroscope, Barometer, and other exciting features.
Leaked photos have also indicated the Samsung Galaxy S3 will support five rows of icons, but the leaked video of the phone and the form factors of previous devices seem to suggest otherwise. The "S3" name was leaked by Kies, the software that allows Samsung owners to connect and update their devices. There were also two different version numbers mentioned: the GT-i9300 and the GT-i9300T.
Moreover, SamMobile reported that Samsung may unveil more than just one phone. According to the site, its tipster pointed to a GT-i9800 device, saying that "this is just the beginning."
The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to be unveiled on May 3 in London, at the Samsung Unpacked event. There have been numerous rumors circulating around Samsung's next flagship phone, some more insane than others, so until the official unveiling, it may be better to take all "news" and leaked pictures with a healthy dose of skepticism.
