The once highly anticipated platformer "ReCore" has failed to live up to its hype, and the team at Comcept and Armature Studios are now scrambling to keep the game afloat.

With a strong presence at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo plus a "dream team" led by "Mega Man" legend Keiji Inafune and the people who previously worked on "Metroid Prime," "ReCore" showed a lot of promise as a current-gen platformer. Unfortunately, the end product is not what people were expecting.

"ReCore" has received a disappointing critic score of 63 on review aggregator Metacritic, with most reviewers citing slow loading screens, poor performance peppered with technical glitches and an "uninspired world."

To entice people to play the Xbox One exclusive game, Microsoft has released a 30 minute demo of the game for Xbox One and Windows 10, dubbed the "ReCore Free Trial Experience." This demo can be downloaded at no extra cost, Endgadget reported.

Players who opted to try the "ReCore" demo out will not be expected to buy the full title, but for those who decide to jump in and shell out some cash, their progress will be carried over to the main game.

The "ReCore" team also pushed out a major update for the game last week in attempts of fixing all known issues and major complaints.

"In this update, you will experience decreased loading times, see audio and visual improvements," the "ReCore" team said on the official website, "and notice improvements to issues you may have experienced with waypoints, achievement tracking, collision locations, checkpoints and respawn points."

Speaking to Gamespot, Xbox Head Phil Spencer revealed what he thinks about the negative reviews "ReCore" received from critics and gamers alike.

"On the reviews, honestly I thought some of the reviews were a little harsh in terms of their view on the game," Spencer admitted. "But for us, inside, again I feel really proud to have the character, the story, the gameplay style, and the partnership with Armature and Inafune-san as part of our portfolio."

"ReCore" was released exclusively on the Xbox One, and is part of the Play Anywhere program.
