Nikon D810 vs D750 vs D500 Review: When Budget Cameras Do Not Always Mean Lesser Quality

With all the options available for consumers to select from when getting a DSLR, we've chosen three from Nikon's line of cameras, which are the D810, the D750 and D500. We get down to the beefy parts of each camera to prove that they are more than just a smaller price tag.

To make the decision easier for those considering to get any from these three strong contenders, we list down the key specs of the cameras and the glaring differences.

Among the three, the Nikon D500 happens to be the one with the smallest sensor, which produces an image resolution of 20.7 megapixels. This is 70 percent less than the Nikon D810, which has 36.2 megapixels and the Nikon D750, which has 24.3 megapixels.

However, for most applications, resolutions around 20-megapixels are more than useful for most prints and even on large formats so this could be overlooked at some point.

From this minor setback along with a crop factor of 1.5x, the Nikon D500 owns at everything else instead.

For one, it has tons more lens available for use with its Nikon F lens mount. Snapsort logs 230 lenses available for this DSLR, which 30 percent more than either the Nikon D750 or the Nikon D810.

The Nikon D500 also has 153 auto focus points, which is a huge advantage over both cameras which only has less than a hundred. This helps getting those shots in focus, especially fast continuous moving subjects.

The Nikon D500 also has a flip-out screen, touch screen and almost double the size of the other two camera's screen resolution, which helps the preview images to be checked more accurately. Add to that, that the D500 can shoot the best current video quality of UHD 4K resolution.

What makes the Nikon D500 a good deal is, it is way cheaper than either the D750 or the D810. The price for this camera is under $2000 unlike the D810 and the D750, which is still around 2,500 to 3,000.

For those who would like to be able to produce quality photos and videos without having to spend too much will find right at home with the Nikon D500. It has everything that consumers in between becoming a professional and enthusiasts could agree.
