Thanks to the Android Wear platform, both LG and Motorola's flagship smartwatches feature a lot more than just a watch with a full-sized digital display.

Motorola's Moto 360 is a round smartwatch - a breath of fresh are from earlier smartwatches such as the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear live.

First released in 2014 and has since been updated with its 2nd generation, the Moto 360 has two options for the screen size: it features an always-on 1.37-inch circular backlit IPS display at 360x325p resolution for the 42mm model, and 1.56-inch, 360x330p resolution for the 46mm model. Both have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection included.

While LG's offering, the Urbane, features a 1.38-inch OLED display with a crisp 480x480 resolution, as well as Gorilla Glass 3.

One of Moto 360's unique features is its ambient light sensor, which adjusts the screen's brightness depending on current light conditions. Similar to smartphones' light sensors, this can help with the balance between screen readability and battery life management. The smartwatch also features Qi wireless charging, which is a plus for users with compatible Qi chargers.

On the other hand, the Urbane 2nd Edition's unique perk is its cellular capabilities: it does include an LTE module for users to make phone calls and respond to text messages. This connectivity feature is a first for Google's smartwatch platform, and is expected to roll out on rival smartwatches in the near future.

The Moto 360 has a 400mAh batter for the 46mm model, and 300mAh for the smaller 42mm. Battery life lasts around 48 hours on mixed use. The Urbane has a whopping 570mAh battery, but despite its 60-hour claim, its higher resolution and phone capabilities may affect its battery life.

Both smartwatches feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with 768 MB of RAM for the Urbane, and 512 MB of RAM for the Moto 360.

Unfortunately, the Urbane is heavier, thicker and less comfortable to wear than the Moto 360, and possibly every other smartwatch available, mainly due to its added circuitry and its non-customizable rubber strap.

On the other hand, the Moto 360 is widely considered to be one of the most comfortable smartwatches in the market, with its compatibility with standard 22mm straps.

In conclusion, the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition packs in a lot of features in expense of its size, while the Motorola Moto 360 2nd Generation offers a bit less, with a more watch-like comfort and style.
