Wearables are progressing in terms of sales globally. One of the companies whose name has been leading in producing smartwatches is Sony.

It has been two years since the Japanese tech company launched the Sony SmartWatch 3. Within the years of its release, several reports shared that Sony's SmartWatch is considered as one of the best.

One of the most admirable features of the SmartWatch 3 is its GPS connectivity. Online reviews even pointed it as its biggest selling point.  Sony's wearable is running in the newest GPS support for Android which was introduced by Google recently.

Consumers can use the updated RunKeeper app which Google programmed impressively to support fitness and running activities. Sony SmartWatch 3 can also be used in GPS tracking without using a smartphone through Google's own MyTracks application.

Some tech experts even tested how good will be the GPS tracking capability of SmartWatch 3. Using the MyTracks application, few runs were tested in regular minutes per mile pace basis. Experts also did a comparison between Sony's watch and Adidas miCoach Smart Run. After using both watches, they were able to evaluate that SmartWatch 3 works within 20m after the 10,000m run, Wareable reported.

Aside from its impressive GPS connectivity, Sony SmartWatch 3 also garnered praises because of its future-ready specifications. Sony's recent release smartwatch is equipped with a quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB storage capacity. It also has NFC, waterproofing, and Wi-Fi capabilities.

On the other hand, Sony is now preparing for the upcoming SmartWatch 4. Rumor has it that the anticipated watch successor will have a more impeccable design. Reports are that Sony SmartWatch 4 will be equipped with more accurate GPS functionality. Implementation of Android Pay is also expected on its release.

Furthermore, SmartWatch 4 will have a more improved battery capacity from the 420mAh capacity of SmartWatch 3. Better sensor options, cellular access, and advanced charging methods will also be added in the upcoming smartwatch. Sony's anticipated watch will also be compatible with iOS fitness applications, Fab Newz reported.

It has been two years since the SmartWatch 3 was released. After its success, Sony is expected to launch Sony SmartWatch 4 at the upcoming IFA 2016 which was the same event that they used as a platform in announcing SmartWatch 3's availability in the market.
