"Pacific Rim" is set to come back to the big screen on 2018. Although some reports are saying that the second installment of the robots versus monsters film will be a big hit, rumor has it that fans were quite disappointed regarding the news that Charlie Hunnam won't be joining the sequel.

The 36-year-old actor was known for being Raleigh Becket in the first "Pacific Rim." On the early draft of the movie, Hunnam's character was built up significantly for the second installment. Unfortunately, he won't be able to reprise his role in the upcoming movie because of his conflicting schedules.

In an interview with MTV News's Josh Horowitz at San Diego Comic-Con, Charlie Hunnam shared that his schedule is very tight that he can't join the film. The filmmakers need to start the production the soonest that's why he can't fit his schedule even though originally his character should be joining the sequel.

"There was definitely an incarnation of this sequel that involved me, but there was a changing of ownership, of the studio itself, Legendary, and I think that because they partnered up with a Chinese company and the film was so successful there , there was a real agenda to get that film into production as soon as possible," Hunnam said.

"And I was already booked up for a significant period of the time they were going to need," he added.

Meanwhile, "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" filmmakers will shoot some of the scenes of the upcoming movie in the shores of Queensland. Reports said that 270 Queensland crews will be employed to be part in the second installment.

According to Chinchilla News, State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been preparing for big productions to take place in Queensland. Securing good relationship with filmmakers let them worked with famous films worldwide.

"My Government has invested an extra $30 million over four years into Screen Queensland.  These funds have been dedicated to attracting large-scale film and high-end television productions to Queensland to drive jobs, tourism and new spend into our economy," the Premier said.

"Pacific Rim 2" will be written and produced by Guillermo del Toro. The film will be starred by John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Tian Jing, Charlie Day, and Cailee Spaeney. "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" is expected to be on the big screen in February 2018.
