Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Update: 'Oblivion' Added; More Big Games, With 'Call Of Duty' Titles To Be Released This December?
J RoseMicrosoft is beginning to bring out the big guns to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, with an addition of a game in the highly popular "The Elder Scrolls" series, "Oblivion."
The fourth installment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise makes its way to the ever expanding library of backwards compatible titles on the Xbox One. "Oblivion" was first released for the Xbox 360 and PC more than ten years ago, in March 2006. The game was also released for the Playstation 3 a year later.
"Oblivion" received critical and commercial success upon release, selling over 9.5 million units, and is one of the most popular games in "The Elder Scrolls" series. The game has joined other Bethesda titles in the list like "Fallout: New Vegas," Doom 3 BFG Edition" and "RAGE," which were all added this year.
As confirmed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, November has been a very good month for Xbox One backwards compatibility, as the program recently celebrated its first year anniversary. Fans saw some other big titles make their way to the list.
On N7 Day, both "Mass Effect 2" and "Mass Effect 3" were finally added to the backwards compatibility library, to the delight of "Mass Effect" fans everywhere. This proves that Microsoft is really listening to its fanbase, and more are now hoping that they will get more titles that they want added to the list.
Treyarch's popular shooter "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" remains the fans' most requested game to be added to the ever growing Xbox One backwards compatibility list.
"Call of Duty" titles have dominated the list of most requested titles to be backwards compatible, with "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" still sitting comfortably on top of the rankings, with almost 200,000 fans requesting for the title to be added.
As of this writing, five out of the top ten spots are occupied by "Call of Duty" titles, namely "Call of Duty: Black Ops II," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and "Call of Duty: World at War."
Apart from "Oblivion," Microsoft also added Atlus' "Trine 2," Electronic Arts' "MOH Airborne," and Microsoft Studios' "Astropop" to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list this week.
