2016 is a year of rigid competition in the smartphone industry. From tech giant Apple, Samsung, LG and Huawei, the new comer Pixel XL gave these giant names arguably eating dust.

On judging the best smartphone, metrics such as performance, battery life, build quality, camera, innovation, sound quality and overall design are factored amongst others. The more factors the smartphone meets, the higher it scores. Yet, the most determining factor is on how it levels above the rest in metrics.

Google's principal effort is a very impressive one. The majority of smartphone makers have one unique selling proposition and seem to fail in all other aspects. For instance, HTC has outstanding sound output but performance is often fair. Alternatively, LG has some ingenious, groundbreaking ideas at expense of build quality and battery life.

In a recent report by AFR, it stated that the AMOLED display of Pixel XL phone is much better compared to the LCD screen of the iPhone. Google Pixel XL design is utilitarian and beautiful and its sharper AMOLED screen darkens the Retina display of the iPhone. The USB-C fast charging of the Google's Pixel XL device is much faster than the iPhone.

Google Pixel XL has Google Assistant, a built-in customer support service, limitless and free backup of full-resolution photos and videos and Smart Storage. Google Assistant is intended to contend with Microsoft's Cortana, Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa. It did not just get Google's class-leading voice recognition, it also boasts of its ability to utilize the entire publicly-available Internet to match exactly what you are looking for. It ranges from adjacent restaurants to the movies schedules and much more.

Google's analyst Brian Nowak, in a report by Business Insider, wrote in a note to clients that Google is estimated to sell 5.5 million Pixel phones in 2017. He anticipates to sell three million units for this year's last quarter, producing $2 billion. The Daydream and Pixel camera and Google Pixel XL's more profound app integration, amplified importance of Android Pay, and enhanced computing power definitely made it stand out against other brands in the market.
