AMD released some exciting and rich updates about its next generation Ryzen CPU at CES 2017 held in Las Vegas. Reportedly, the new technology aims to remain competitive for up to four years. Also promising up to 40 percent improvement in performance, AMD Ryzen CPU does not disappoint.

AMD Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster revealed that the lifespan of the new Ryzen microprocessor is expected to be equal to the years it took to complete. The California-based company spent four years working on the new architecture, reportedly. Ryzen's lifespan expectation deviates from Intel's tick-tock model that apparently maintains the release of advancements to its microprocessor every two years.

Apparently, Papermaster is looking at delivering yearly improvements to Ryzen according to PC World. Though nothing specific was revealed, the report claimed that the company chief technology officer may add three generations of improvements to the upcoming CPUs because Papermaster is still a believer of "Moore's Law Plus." "Moore's Law Plus" observes a continuous pace of computing improvement.

Meanwhile, with the new architecture of Zen chips, Ryzen is apparently 40 percent better in performance than its predecessor, the Excavator. Moreover, all CPUs are said to ship unlocked and ready for overclocking out of the box. The launch date is set before the end of this year's first quarter, which will fall from early to mid-Q1, WCCF Tech reported.

Furthermore, the company's Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Computing and Graphics Business Jim Anderson confirmed that the new chips will be available from the first day of its unveiling. That said, users could get their hands on Ryzen without waiting for weeks to months after its launch. The CPUs are also expected to come with unique configurations and will feature up to eight Zen cores.
