Nintendo Switch Online Service Offers Free Monthly Games but Here's a Catch

All Nintendo paid online service subscribers get a chance to download and play a game on SNES or NES, which is free for a month. Unlike Xbox One owners that can own the backward compatible Xbox 360 games forever, Nintendo Switch owners only have a month to play the game and then you will have to purchase it if you want to continue playing.

There are no details yet as to how much this Nintendo paid online service costs but according to Polygon, many people are disappointed with this and most of them took their rage on NeoGAF. "Nintendo has always been stingy with VC. This is an extension of that." And, uh, more colorful ones," one user commented on the thread that quickly exploded in just a few minutes.

According to Game Rant, this will be the first time that Nintendo requires a fee for online gaming upon the introduction of Nintendo Switch. Nintendo's official site says that the games are going to be free for a month but many fans thought that the games can be downloaded on that month for free and not that these can only be played during the month for free.

Considering that many Wii owners who upgraded to Wii U got upset of the fact that the decades-old games they have bought for their Wii need to be repurchased for the Wii U, this certainly disappointed many seasoned Nintendo fans. The same thing also happened to Nintendo 3DS owners.

On the plus side though, you are still able to play the full games on the month that these games are offered free. You might lose some Nintendo Switch titles and it's indeed disappointing but you should be to fully complete these titles offered on that month.

Nintendo Switch has 32 GB storage and 720p touch display. It is slated for launch on March 3, 2017. What do you think on the Nintendo online paid service upon the Switch's upcoming launch? Let us know in the comments below!
