Maintaining its dominance could be a great motivation for Niantic to unveil a number of "Pokemon GO" updates that will keep current players interested and entice more players to the game. Though a slow decline has been predicted, the Pokemon game remains the top grossing app and maintaining this steady cash flow will likely force Niantic to finally give in to the demands of the fanbase.

A "Pokemon GO" update that fans would certainly want to see is the introduction of new Pokemons to the game. The addition of Pokemon numbers 150 and 151 have been floated in a lot of online community and has already generated tremendous hype for Pokemon game. Mew and Mewtwo may be two of the most anticipated Pokemons in the game, especially Mewtwo. A lot of speculations has surrounded Mewtwo and how powerful will the Pokemon be once it is introduced to the Pokemon game.

Another addition or additions to the "Pokemon GO" roster that fans would like to see is the introduction of Gen 2 Pokemons to the game. The addition of quite a number of Pokemons with an update will certainly revive the said to be already diminishing interest to the game. The addition of Mew and Mewtwo will increase the hype for "Pokemon GO" but the hype will die down once the two Pokemons are caught. Increasing the number of new Pokemons will certainly have a better and longer effect to the game than simply adding two new Pokemons.

Niantic has ramped up the "Pokemon GO" events the past few months and proving more events will be great for its fanbase. The next big event for is rumored to coincide with the Chinese New Year and a Valentine's Day event is also said to be underway.

One more feature that "Pokemon GO" fans would like to be added, or rather removed, is the regional blocking. Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch will be region free and taking similar route for their games is not a farfetched idea.
