Apple's iPhone line of devices is celebrating its 10th year anniversary this year. The iPhone 7 may have just been released, but the Internet is already abuzz with reports pointing to an iPhone 8 release.

According to the Chinese publication, DigiTimes, the upcoming iPhone flagship will be boasting of a stainless steel frame that is reinforced by a pair of glass planes on either side. This exterior will give the smartphone a sturdy iPhone 4 appeal. The iPhone 4 was the last model to feature a stainless steel frame. Implementing it on the iPhone 8 will be very good news for clumsy smartphone owners.

Forbes, meanwhile, has reported that the iPhone 8 will have a wireless charging capability. This feature matches well with a stainless steel frame with glass panels. Once confirmed, the iPhone 8 will be the first of its kind to have wireless charging and can go head-to-head with some Windows and Android devices. It remains unclear whether or not the Cupertino-based tech giant has plans of releasing its own wireless charging station.

Moreover, a patent seems to confirm that Apple has acquired technology for a curved iPhone. As can be seen on Patently Apple, a new technology for a wraparound glass screen was acquired by Apple just last year. Such display is reportedly an advantage for iPhone 8 users since the viewing area will be expanded without having to increase either the size or shape of the device.

Also, according to Korea Herald, the iPhone 8 will come out of the box with the highest level of water and dust resistance in the smartphone industry today. At present, the Galaxy S7 from Samsung is the only smartphone to feature an IP68 rating - which can allow the device to be fully submerged in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

"Apple's iPhone 8 will feature the IP68 rating protection as part of drastic upgrades marking the 10th anniversary of the iPhone this year," a source told the Korean publication.
