Sony Xperia handset users, rejoice! A slew of Sony Xperia smartphones is slated to receive Android Nougat update sooner rather than later.

Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, and Z3+ Set To Receive Android Nougat 7.0 Update

After rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to Xperia Z5 Performance, the Japanese handset maker is gearing up to release the update to three more smartphones and tablets from its highly lauded Xperia line. Sony's Xperia Z5, Z3+ series smartphones and Z4 Tablet running on Android Nougat and carrying build number 32.3.A.0.372 have received Nougat certification from PTCRB. For those unaware, PTCRB is a cellular certification forum based in North America.

Receiving a certification from PTCRB imply that a device complies with the cellular network standards without any sort of prospect of being blocked out by operators in the region, according to 7layers.

Although the upcoming Nougat update for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4 and Z3+ is not yet associated with an exact rollout date, it is likely to arrive soon. The devices will receive the update via OTA. Alternatively, users can also check the notification on their devices.

Aside from the aforementioned Sony Xperia devices, Xperia Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Xperia XA, and XA Ultra are slated to receive Android Nougat as well. The Xperia Z5 packs 3GB of RAM coupled with 32GB of internal storage and is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor. In the photography front, the smartphone boasts a mammoth 23MP primary camera and 5.1MP front snapper.

What To Expect

The said Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected to encompass an array of value-added features including bundled notification, enhanced security, and multi-window options, just to name a few.

Moreover, Sony will be introducing a few updates that let the handset extend support to manual shutter speed control including ISO control. In addition, the battery receives a radical overhaul making it more efficient. Sony is also expected to team up with the search giant in order to bring Google Now to the devices' home screen, AndroidHeadlines reported.

Regrettably, users of Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z1 series and Z Ultra will not be eligible to receive the Nougat update owing to the devices' older series of processor. Not too long ago, Sony released its Xperia Beta Program for Xperia X Performance and the tech firm has rolled out the stable version to public.
