Google Nexus 7 has created a buzz right from the day it has been launched. Numbers never lie and the reports from various retailers clearly state the sold-out status. Even though the online Google store has an 8 GB version up for sale all the 16 GB versions of the Nexus 7 are sold out. Nexus 7 is doing pretty well but the biggest rival to the Google Tablet is of course the new iPad.

In the Google Nexus 7 versus the iPad war, there are several reasons as to why the Nexus 7 may be a threat to Apple's dominance. For starters the Nexus 7 at 336gms is substantially lighter than the iPad, which weighs 652 gms. Moreover, the 7-inch screen size of the Nexus 7 adds to its portability and compactness. The pint-sized dimensions of 120 x 199mm mean that the device can be tucked away in pockets and purses. By contrast, the 9.7-inch iPad is far from being compact and fitting it in your pocket or handbag is a distant dream, which may perhaps see fruition with anticipated the iPad Mini.

From the apps perspective, the Nexus 7 doesn't have a spectrum of apps when compared to Apple; however, the ones it has on board, like The Night Sky and Flipboard, enjoy exclusivity, run smoothly, and are slowly making waves.

Camera is one aspect where the Nexus 7 doesn't stand a chance against the new iPad. The Nexus 7 sports a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera for videoconferencing, compared to the iPad's 5-megapixel iSight camera. The Internet browsing experience on both the tabs is awesome. However, with NEXUS 7, Internet access is limited to Wi-Fi only.

Recently, both tablets were also put to a drop test and surprisingly it was found that both survived the drop and water tests. However, the tests indicated that the new iPad's sound was affected.

Last but not the least is the price. For $199, the Nexus 7 is easy on pockets given the slew of amazing features it offers. The new iPad, at $399, though comprising a multitude of high-end features, comes for double the price.

It's a toughie comparing and analyzing the features of both these tabs as both have their pluses and the choice depends on user needs.
