Fighting games has never been paying attention in terms of story-telling for the past years. But it seems NetherRealm has changed that idea in the "Injustice" franchise. With the game's new trailer for "Injustice 2" out now, a new story arc is about to come and a new villain is shown.

GameRant reports a new set of characters is about to come to the game title as the new "Injustice 2" trailer "Lines Are Redrawn." The trailer shows a continuation of the previous game's story and it seems Brainiac is the new villain pulling the strings.

In addition to Brainiac, other of Batman's villains will be added to the game roster. Bane, Poison Ivy, Deadshot and Harley Quinn are also shown in the trailer.

If viewers could look closely, they could spot Brainiac's ship behind Supergirl. The publication believes that in the game's timeline, Supergirl is sent by Brainiac himself rather than her parents to free Superman from imprisonment. It is also believed that more details about Supergirl's motive will be revealed in the months to come, leading up to the May release.

IBTimes reports that the trailer also informs fans that if they pre-order now, fans would also be getting Darkseid as a special character. Since Darkseid is a special character, he may not play a huge role in the game's storyline.

There's a $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition as well. The Deluxe Edition includes 3 DLC characters, 1 premiere skin and 1 gear shader pack, while the Ultimate Edition comes with 9 DLC fighters, 3 skins and 2 exclusive gear shader packs.

NetherRealm did promise that the game's roster would be filled up to the bone along with the DLC characters. "Injustice 2" is slated to be released on May 16, 2017 in PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
