Samsung Electronics' Exynos processors will power the infotainment systems in Audi's next-gen automobiles. The Korean tech behemoth doesn't use its flagship chips in all of its phones, but the announcement states that Samsung will providing its processors to enhance the performance of in-dash applications.

The company said that starting with the supply deal, it will be expanding into the semiconductors-for-cars market. On the other hand, Audi has numerous other deals with chip manufacturers to run its self-driving cars, but Samsung's Exynos processors will be responsibly in running four different displays in the car at once using its advanced graphics processing power. Each of the displays can run impressive interfaces with different levels of user interaction, according to Android Central.

Samsung's Exynos processors have been housed among the most powerful gadgets available, going into the Galaxy S and Note series for models sold in South Korea. It is capable of running high-end tablets and phones. The Exynos processors should bode well with Audi's infotainment systems. The processors will offer "the best driving experience" for drivers, Samsung said.

The company has been attempting to expand into the auto component market in recent years; in fact, Samsung announced the acquisition of Harman, the US auto parts giant, for $8 billion, Forbes reported. If the deal goes through, Samsung will make the firm a tier-1 car parts supplier.

July last year was also a big moment for Samsung, as it had announced its investment efforts to BYD, a Chinese electric car maker. The conglomerate supplies BYD with processors as well.

Samsung Display has been making monitors targeted towards the automobile market, and Samsung SDI, its battery-making division has been supplying car batteries for electric cars. In addition, the company also has a comprehensive cooperation agreement with BMW. The company will be announcing more updates on its deal with Audi in the near future.
