"This is Us" renewal update comes as a great news for those who is loving the series showing on NBC. NBC revealed at the Television Critics Association on Wednesday their plan to run the series for two new seasons. The said announcement is part of TCA's winter press tour.

The said new development for "This is Us" is a welcome announcement following the good showing of the show for this season. Each of the two seasons renewed will have 18 episodes each. The new family drama is a huge hit for the network - both commercially and critically. Days after the show premiered, it received an outstanding 10.1 million total viewers and 2.8 demo rating. The show became the fall's top-rated series release. This is the reason why "This is Us" received a full series of eighteen episodes for its freshman run

As of this week, "This is Us" garnered 9.6 million weekly following with 2.6 rating. With this, the show steadily dominates the primetime block every Tuesday for both measures. The drama is conceptualized by Dan Fogelman. It is also part of Top 10 lists on various websites and got three Golden Globe nominations.

With Fox series "Empire" in the lead, "This is Us" comes second as TV's second top drama overall. Jennifer Salke, NBC Entertainment president revealed how amazed she is the success of the show: "We got our wish that this is a hit show.
