iPhone 8 Specs Update: Analyst Kuo Says Mobile Face Recognition Security Under Development

"iPhone 8" speculations have been discussed for the past months just after the release of the latest Apple handset - iPhone 7. While not a lot of people raved about the latest handset, it still got traction from avid followers of the tech giant and won the hearts of many. Now, what is in store for the next iPhone? That is the question everyone is asking and up to the big reveal expected later this year or early 2018 - no one knows all the details about it.

However, Analyst Kuo has hinted that the new "iPhone 8" will be having mobile face recognition security features. The said features are currently being worked on by Apple developers. Early rumors speculated all-glass, bezel-less design for the new handset doing away with the physical home button as the Touch ID fingerprint sensor will be placed under the glass display.

KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, however, explained that another feature to be expected is the flexible OLED panel display which prevents screen deformation and longer shelf-life for the use of 3D Touch. Apple seems to be looking at inserting metal skeleton under the touch sensor for sturdier style. Right now, what is known is that the focus of the "iPhone 8" is in developing the Touch ID and 3D Touch to work in full swing, as matched with the bezel-less display.

It is expected that the "iPhone 8" would be taking it further with its security function that uses facial recognition, a game-changer in the current market. Just recently, Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri mentioned that Kuo may be right in his analysis with the new handset by Apple.

According to him, the facial recognition technology is possible and the use of laser and infrared sensors near the front-facing camera could be the key to its fruition. For now, it is still too soon to know whether this is true or not, but there are basis for these and developing such features would definitely change the Smartphone landscape in the next years.
