American Music Awards Update & Live Stream: Twitter Announces Live Coverage Of Red Carpet Event

Twitter has announced that it will live-stream from the red carpet to three major awards shows; The Academy of Country Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and The American Music Awards 2017, cnet reported. The awards are scheduled on April 2, May 21 and in November respectively.

Twitter has initially partnered with Dick Clark Production to live-stream the Golden Globe Awards red-carpet pre-show on Jan 8 which had an audience of 2.7 million viewers. President of Dick Clark Production Mike Mahan stated they are quite happy that the Golden Globes red-carpet pre-show was a huge success and they will be working with Twitter in future shows. He also added that by offering a unique online viewing opportunity, they are able to expand and generate a more profound and compelling conversation.

The live-streams will feature hosts that interviews celebrities on the red carpet walking into the venue. The questions by the interviewer will be coming from users of Twitter to make the event even more interactive while being at home.In addition, Twitter has also live-streamed Donald Trump's presidential inauguration and the 2016 presidential debates.

According to Tech Crunch, these are just several of Twitter's efforts in recent months to make its service the choice for viewers staying at home for live events. Later this year, Twitter made a deal with Tubefilter and dcp to live-stream the 7th annual Streamy Awards this coming fall.
