Indie RPG "Sunless Skies" amazingly hit its crowdfunding goal within hours of going live. With just 4 hours on Kickstarter, the game exceeded their $126,600 goal and the figure continues to climb.

There are still 28 days to go before "Sunless Skies" Kickstarter campaign closes. As of Feb. 2, 2017, the game has already received a pledged funding of almost $225,000.

"Sunless Skies" is the sequel to the hit indie RPG 'Sunless Sea." It is a 2D game from Failbetter Games and despite it being a sequel, players are not required to know the events of "Sunless Sea" to play the game.

The game is set in the dawn of the 20th century where London has been taken to the stars. Players will behold wonders in space and battle cosmic abominations in the farthest galaxies. "Sunless Skies" will very similar to its predecessor, but will look very different, reports claimed. According to game producer Lotte Bevan, they are taking what they did well in "Sunless Sea" and making it better in "Sunless Skies."

One factor that may have contributed to the fast funding for "Sunless Skies" could be the success of "Sunless Sea." The first game is a unique game that earned many praise. On Metacritic, "Sunless Sea" was rated an impressive 88%.

"Sunless Skies" doesn't have an exact schedule for its release as of writing. More updates could be released in the coming months, most especially since the game's crowd funding goal has already been achieved.
