The game is a five-part series with episodes released monthly, leading up to October. The third episode is subtitled "The Long Road Ahead."
iOS users are an episode behind: The Walking Dead Episode Two: Starved for Help will be released for iOS on Wednesday.
Due to the episodic format, users have two options to buy the game. On PSN, an individual episode costs $4.99 or the Season Pass costs $19.99. The Xbox Live Arcade version arrives as downloadble content, for 400 Microsoft Points ($5). PC and Mac users can buy the the Season Pass for $24.99 via the Telltale Games Store, Origin, Amazon Downloads, or Steam and other retailers offering digital downloads.
The iOS version is also $4.99, while episodes 2-5 can be bought for $14.99 through in-app purchases.
European and international release dates for the episode on PlayStation Network are unconfirmed. Releases for otehr European platforms seem to be undeterred.
The Walking Dead's reception, thus far, is positive. The long-term moral choices and the non-exclusive focus on the zombie outbreak received praise. Telltale Games perhaps bucked the trend with an adventure games set in a zombie apocalypse which is not a first-person shooter like Left 4 Dead or the Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Polygon praised the game for building a story that is "compelling enough to keep thinking about once the console is off".
The trailer for The Walking Dead: Episode Three - The Long Road Ahead is below. Choices made in the first two episodes carry over to this episode's content, so the trailer is possibly not what users will see come Tuesday.
