Details of the most anticipated Microsoft Surface Phone have been scarce and the Redmond-based tech giant is not saying anything as to when this device will release and what it can bring to the table. However, various unconfirmed reports about the smartphone have been popping up here and there making fans excited to see what Microsoft has been cooking up.

Various leaks have made it online and these suggest that Microsoft could indeed be working on the Surface Phone. It was reported earlier that the device will come in three variants and all of them will sport an all-metal design, according to a report from Trusted Reviews.

Under the hood, Microsoft Surface Phone is rumored to have the new Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm. It was also said that an 8 GB of RAM is onboard and will be paired with a 512 GB internal storage. For the camera, the device is expected to have 21-megapixel lens for the rear camera. Surface Phone is also expected to be shipped with Windows 10 operating system straight from the box.

If any of these rumored specs are true, it is believed that Microsoft is trying to make a device that is impressive enough to be on par with Apple iPhone 7 and Google Pixel. The specs and features of the device are based on speculations and rumors so fans should just wait for Microsoft to make the official announcement before making any assumption.

As for the release date, initial reports suggested that the phone would release in 2016, specifically during the October event from the company. However, 2016 has come and gone and still Surface Phone was a no-show.

There is a big event coming up in February, the 2017 Mobile World Congress, and this is believed to be the perfect venue to showcase the new Surface Phone, TechAdvisor reported. Microsoft has already confirmed its presence at the event, the report added, but it remains to be seen what the company will showcase.
