Xiaomi Starts Roll Out Of MIUI 8.2 Update To Various Devices
Xiaomi started to roll out on Thursday, Feb. 16, the latest MIUI 8.2 update. The devices which would get the update are Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G.
The Chinese tech giant advised owners of these eight models to lookout for an over-the-air MIUI 8.2 update through the Updater app. However, they could also opt to manual flash by downloading links available at the source, GSM Arena reports.
The eight are just the first batch of Xiaomi gadgets to receive the MIUI 8.2 update through OTA. Beginning Feb. 20, 16 more devices would get the update. These are the Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2/2S, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 3/Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime and Redmi Note 4.
The MIUI 8.2 would introduce several new and improved features such as new toggles for notification share, new systems sound and antivirus features for apps not downloaded from the Play Store, according to Android Authority. It consists of three new additions outlined in the changelog, three optimizations and six fixes.
However, the Android 7.0 Nougat OS update is not yet included which could disappoint fans of Xiaomi devices. The tech giant from China started testing the Nougat almost three months ago, while a lot of the major OEMs had already delivered the Nougat update to their gadgets.
The new additions outlined in the changelog for the MIUI 8.2 update are swipe to delete Lockscreen notifications, UI adjustments for toggles and battery saver toggle can be added to the Notification shared. The optimization are for lock screen PIN layout, changed icons for USB charging and switching keyboards, and floating notification won’t appear in DND mode.
The fix are for notification shade issues during incoming call floating notifications, Wi-Fi page made the device freeze when opened for the first time, notification shade issues, issues with opacity after using third party themes, first notification could not be removed by a swipe, and landscape mode issues with third party themes.
