Qualcomm is Prepping the Snapdragon 625’s Successor: Snapdragon 630, Snapdragon 635 & Snapdragon 660;
There are many middle-range devices like ASUS ZenFone 3, Moto Z Play, ZTE Blade V8 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi 4 all taking advantage of the Snapdragon 625. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 will certainly dominate the middle-end chip market, improving the specifications and functionality of the middle-range Smartphone to be faster and more power sufficient.
A leak from Weibo (Chinese Social Network) reveals that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 are the enhanced versions of the Snapdragon 625, benefiting from advanced power management and heat reduction. In addition, both of Qualcomm's newest chips will be equipped with an octa-core processor, the eight Cortex-A53 cores.
The two Qualcomm's SoCs will also come with LPDDR3 RAM, including the 4G LTE category 7. Additionally, Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 will feature a clock frequency of 2.0-2.2 GHz. If the rumor was right, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 will also include the Adreno 506 GPU for graphic performance in their package.
All the specs mentioned above are actually the specs for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 so fans can expect the specs for Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 are somehow more powerful than that. Besides the two SoCs, Qualcomm is also prepping on another new chipset, the Snapdragon 660.
According to android headlines, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 is said to be more powerful than those previous chips and also be manufactured using Samsung's 14nm LLP process. It is reported that this silicone piece should also sport an octa-core arrangement, adding both Cortex-A73 and A53 cores into the mix.
Snapdragon 660 will also get the Adreno 512 GPU in its package, supporting dual-channel LPDDR4X-1866 RAM memory. This SoC will offer UFS 2.1 internal storage and the main camera also won't be disappointing as it features up to 24MP, as reported by android guys.
Furthermore, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 will also carry the 4G LTE Cat.10 as well as three carrier aggregations. Up until now, Qualcomm hasn't released any official statement about its Snapdragon 630 Snapdragon 635, and Snapdragon 660 specs.
